Individual Assignment #1 (As you add more individual assignments, put each new assignment ABOVE the previous one. Add a horizontal line between the assignments).
Create a new WIKI page using your initials and the name of your novel(s) as the title. Link it to your main page.
As you read your story, pay attention to the following:
Name the major character(s). Name the minor character(s). In what ways do the minor character(s) affect the main character(s)?
What decision(s) has a character made that you totally disagree with. Tell why you disagree with it.
How does this story change your thinking?
Write your ideas on your WIKI page. This should be an ongoing assignment throughout the week. As you read more chapters, add more information. Your insights can be written using bullet points, using short sentences, or writing paragraphs - your choice.
Due date: Friday, March 9
The major characters in Under A War-Torn Sky so far in the book (ch. 1-6) are Henry and Dan. Dan's part ended but the story still talks about him a lot in the story. The minor characters are Billy, Uncle Sam, the teacher, Madame, Henry's mother, Patsy, and Fred. The minor characters have affected the main characters by how they have looked at situations. Henry wants to go home and show his mother hes alive and make her not worry anymore. He wants to go home to prove to his dad that he is worth something. Losing Dan made him feel like he has to return so he isn't forgotten. The other members of the crew he lost and he wants to find them. The minor characters have given Henry confidence, hope, and make him determined.
I disagree with when Henry joined the military. He had a full ride into college and could live a happy life. Instead he joined the military to prove to his father the strength he has. He gave up his scholarship to join the military which I totally disagree with. He may not get the chance to go to college or live after the war.
This story made me change me thoughts on how the war was handled. The Americans were doing all they could to stop Hitler but they were not always successful. I also changed how I thought about confidence. I thought he would give up and die but he showed determination and took risks for his own survive.
I agree with your feelings about Henry's joining the military. From my perspective, he did it for all the wrong reasons.
Good insights...proofing your writing before posting is a good idea. I think you would have caught many careless mistakes.
